Animating For Play
A downloadable game
Animating for Play is an atmospheric third-person prototype exploring how animation style shapes player experience.
Switch between two animation approaches
- Realistic, motion captured
- Stylised handmade keyframe animation
Feel how small changes in timing, weight, and exaggeration transform the way a character thinks, moves, and breathes. It was built in Blender and Unreal Engine 5 as part of an Honours research project at Edinburgh Napier University. The demo investigates the relationship between animation style, game feel, and character personality. Developed for gamers, animators, designers, and anyone who believes that how something moves is just as important as how it looks.
